I recently completed a 1031 tax deferred exhange. The relinquished property was fully depreciated. The acquired property cost $15K more than the relinquished, therefore tax accountants tend to agree that my new basis is $15K (ignore the land for this example). However, I am getting a variety of answers as to the number years the $15K should be depreciated over. Can someone recommend an accountant who is EXPERT in this subject? (Both are residential properties).

Dave,
I don't know that Ron Vascik would be considered an 'expert' in 1031's , but he is a very knowledgeable real estate tax accountant. rvascik@rfbookcpas.com. Please post the results of your search for the right answer on this. Mike
